We lived in a little house in Danbury, set behind another house. An old lady (old to me, then) and her daughter lived in the house in front of us; she would often watch me after school when my mom and Wayne were at work. I would usually play in the yard in between our houses; I would play jacks or marbles- usually games you would play with someone else, but I played alone. Sort of…. there was always someone else with me, someone no one else could see but me. I couldn’t even really see them, but I knew someone was there and I talked at them incessantly while I played. But only outside. I wasn’t allowed to have any pets as Wayne claimed to be allergic to cats and dogs. I won a goldfish at a fair, and he lived to be almost 10, but he didn’t really count. You can’t snuggle a goldfish!
